In the 80s, people like Leonardo Dicaprio and Johnny Depp were huge heartthrobs, and great actors. They were in almost every movie and teenage girls swooned over many 80s actors. Leonardo Dicaprios early acting career is an interesting story. From a young age he had developed a love for acting, while growing up in poor parts of LA. His parents had divorced when he was a baby. When he was little, Leos mum had signed him up with a talent agent, and by age 5, he was on a TV show.

When he was 14, he signed up with an agency and acted in some TV shows. One of the shows he acted in was Parenthood, where he met Tobey Maguire, and was nominated for the Young Artist Award for Best Young Actor.

He made his big movie debut in the movie Critters 3, in 1993. That role then led to him starring in the hit TV show, Growing Pains. Robert De Niro then picked Leo to star in the movie This boys life, in 1993.

In the same year, Leonardo teamed up with Johnny Depp, to star in the movie Whats eating Gilbert Grape. This movie earned Dicaprio an Academy Award nomination.
